Mobile Marketing Tips for 2016

February 21, 2016 // By: Stream Companies

Stream-Blog_Graphics_MobileMarketingTips2016_2-16By now you know how powerful mobile marketing can be, and it's a good thing you do, because in 2016, consumers are using their phones for everything. According to independent market research company eMarketer, mobile marketing is predicted to surpass $100 billion in spending and account for more than 50% of all digital spending for the first time. You want to make sure that you’re part of this.

If you don’t know where to start or what steps to take to execute the perfect marketing strategy, check out some of our favorite mobile marketing tips for 2016.

  • Make sure that you have a mobile website or a mobile app. You want the people who would like to engage with you to find you when they're ready. Make sure that you have a mobile website and mobile apps that make it easy for the consumer.

Make sure that you have a mobile version of your website that fits perfectly on a user's phone screen without them having to zoom in or out just to determine how to navigate the site. This could lead to them moving on and choosing another site instead.

Brands such as Etsy and BuzzFeed have visually appealing, easy-to-navigate mobile website designs. With these sites, users perform an action, such as looking at an online shop or browsing for an article to read. If the mobile design makes this difficult to do, the user won’t waste their time trying to navigate it. They’ll simply go to a different site to get this information, possibly a competitor’s site.

Consider creating an app for your company. This will bypass the need for users to go on the internet to engage with your website and give them direct access to your company. Then your company's app will live on their phone. The icon will remind them of you every time they look at their phone.

  • Enhance the user experience. While it's crucial for your business to have a mobile website and mobile app, it's also necessary for them to be aesthetically pleasing and completely functional. Provide your users with an easy, enjoyable experience on your mobile site or apps by making the navigation easy to use, with calls to action visible.

Consumers want to use their smartphones for a more convenient experience than they associate with desktop usage. Make sure that your mobile sites or apps hit that mark.

  • Tailor your mobile marketing to your target audience. Like any form of marketing, understanding your audience and speaking to your buyer personas is key to a successful conversion rate. Know who you're targeting and tailor your mobile sites and apps to that group of consumers. It's important to deliver the right message at the right time to make the most of your efforts.

Keep this in mind with content, design, calls to action, and information that goes onto your site or app.

  • Make mobile payment options available. Smartphones are also becoming a more reliable form of payment, and people are getting more comfortable using programs such as Apple Pay and Android Pay. In fact, according to IBM, last Black Friday, 20.6% of all online sales were on mobile, with 44.7% of all online traffic that day being mobile. And according to eMarketer, the number of smartphone users using a mobile wallet is predicted to increase by 20% in 2016.

To keep up with this trend, become one of the retailers that makes it easy for users to just tap their ePay readers to make a payment.

Failing to have a strong mobile marketing strategy in 2016 could put you behind in your industry, but you can stay relevant by considering these tips.
